Round 5: Keyarris Garrett, WR – Tulsa

Perhaps the most intriguing part of Garrett is his size and ability to get separation. At 6’3″ and 221 pounds, the Tulsa wide receiver has a good vertical leap and long arms to make him a great target in the red zone and for jump balls. His long legs give him long strides, which makes gaining speed look effortless for him on routes.

One area where Keyarris Garrett needs to improve is what to do after the catch. Too often, it seems like Garrett will shy away from contact and give himself up rather than fight for extra yards. However, he has all the physical attributes to be a solid contributor at the NFL level and fills a major need for the team.

While some fans may believe that the Minnesota Vikings need a wide receiver more desperately and should use an earlier pick, the team has proven that they struggle when drafting pass catchers early and even have trouble finding solid free agents to  join the team. A low risk/high reward player like Garrett can be a great gamble in the fifth round while the team figures out what to do with guys like Mike Wallace and Cordarrelle Patterson.
