Dirk Nowitzki is one special basketball player. With the combination of his size and lights out shooting ability, Dirk was on the forefront of the stretch big men movement that is so prevalent in today’s NBA.While plenty of people have continued to evolve the style of play that makes the stretch big so successful, no one has yet reached the level of peak Dirk who was an otherworldly force that bent defenses to their extreme limit.
On Wednesday night, Dirk continued to add to the plenty of accolades he already has by passing Shaquille O’Neal for sixth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. The fact that he did it with a vintage Dirk shot, a super high arcing jumper over the reach of a late closing big man only makes things much more fun.

The shot just comes as another reminder to enjoy Dirk while he is still around. Eventually he will be gone and basketball will be worse because of that.
