Outlet passes truly are one of the more unappreciated plays in basketball. With all the high-flying dunks, no-look dishes and nasty crossovers, the simple outlet leading to an easy bucket just gets lost. Tonight Jared Sullinger made sure that his would not.

That is just pinpoint to a guy flying down the floor. There really isn’t a way that Sullinger could have thrown a better pass over  the top of a retreating defense. The fact that he was able to complete this to another big man just adds to things as big to big passes generally aren’t highlight material.

The other thing that adds a bit of flair to the play is that it was not the traditional over the head outlet pass that you see in these type of circumstances. That meant that Sullinger really needed to time things perfectly, as this type of underhanded pass lacks the power that one can get from going straight over the top.

So thanks Jared Sullinger, for reminding us that sometimes the perfect fundamentals lead to some great highlights.
