1st Round – #23 overall
Corey Coleman is perhaps the most explosive wide receiver in the 2016 NFL Draft along with Laquan Treadwell of the Ole Miss Rebels. Coleman does play in the pass-happy offense at the University of Baylor, but 20 touchdowns are still impressive. Coleman also has great speed, and his size is average at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds.
The Chiefs could give Coleman a long, hard look in the first round because the roster is very solid throughout. While some would look at the pick of a first-round receiver as a luxury, it would be filling a key need for Kansas City. Last offseason, general manager John Dorsey signed Jeremy Maclin to a five-year, $55 million contract and the move has paid off handsomely.
However, Maclin needs a running mate. Currently, he has Albert Wilson on the other side of him, who while a deep threat does not have the type of numbers that scare most defensive coordinators. The other plus of taking Coleman here is should he turn into a great receiver, the Chiefs are not paying a premium for the production. Kansas City needs to give Alex Smith as much help as possible, and Coleman would be a very nice addition.
