According to a report, the Houston Rockets haven’t been able to find a trade partner for their point guard Ty Lawson.

The Houston Rockets may have finally started playing a lot better basketball in the month of December, but their season is a far cry from how they expected it to go. The team is also a far cry from being championship contenders, after they were just competing for a Western Conference Championship back in the summer.

Now the team has a point guard they thought would put them over the top that they can’t get rid of. According to CBS’s Ken Berger, there is currently no market available for Rockets point guard Ty Lawson.

The Rockets have been reportedly trying to move their point guard to accommodate his wishes, after it has become clear that he is just not working out in Houston.

But as Berger has noted, there is just no market for him at the moment, which might just put the Rockets into sellers mode.

"Even the Rockets, who have a long track record of expertly drumming up leverage in seemingly desperate trade scenarios, will struggle to find Lawson a new home. The trade market for him is minimal, league sources tell CBS Sports, and the best move for Houston might be to hold onto him. There are even whispers in league circles that the Rockets might consider waiving the 28-year-old guard, who agreed to make his $13.2 million salary in 2016-17 fully non-guaranteed as part of the trade."

The Lawson trade disaster will certainly go down as one of the more fascinating blunders to examine in NBA history. When the Rockets pulled off the deal to acquire Lawson from the Denver Nuggets, the move was seen as one that would put them over the top in the Western Conference.

Somehow since, Lawson has been absolutely abhorrent as a point guard, with skills on the court diminishing, perhaps because of his role in Houston. His fall and descent as a player has been so rapid, that just months ago it would have taken a decent deal to get him, and now the Rockets can’t even give Lawson away to anyone.

The Rockets are stuck with their point guard, and it could lead to big changes in Houston.
