Former New England Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez, has had his double-murder trial postponed.

Aaron Hernandez will not be having his double-murder trial soon, as it has been delayed.

After being arrested on the charges of killing two men in Boston back in 2012, Hernandez was set to go to trial soon for the double-murder chargers.

According to the Boston Globe, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke has postponed the trial for Hernandez, after a request from the District Attorney and the defense attorneys for Hernandez.

"Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke made the decision late Wednesday at the request of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office and defense attorneys representing Hernandez in the double murder and witness intimidation case. The case is set to return to court for a status hearing on Jan. 19, the date that the trial was scheduled to begin. In his ruling, Locke wrote that both prosecutors and the defense are set to appear before Supreme Judicial Court Judge Margot Botsford Jan. 5 in a fight over the admissability of a “device’’ in the possession of a law firm."

It certainly sounds like before this big case about Hernandez goes to trial, both sides need more time in preparing their cases. With both sides needing time, it made sense that the judge would delay the trial as to not take away from the best interests of having a fair and speedy trial.

It’s likely that any ruling will already be appealed, that both sides are using all the time that they have to gather as much evidence as possible when they present their case to the highest court possible.

That means that this thing could very well go on for some time, especially depending upon the result of both sides meeting on January 5th.

Hernandez has plead not guilty to the double-murder charges and is already serving a life-sentence for being convicted of murder, after he murdered Odin Lloyd in June 2o13.
