Prognosis

Out of Yoenis Cespedes, Justin Upton or Alex Gordon, all would be an upgrade for the White Sox. Adding one of them would be a ballsy, but smart move.

Thus far it has been the Chicago Cubs making the headlines this offseason. Every move that the Cubs have made puts some distance between them and the White Sox in the baseball conversation. The north-siders’ biggest splash was the out of the blue signing of Jason Heyward. That acquisition, along with the addition of pitchers Andrew Warren and John Lackey have catapulted the Cubs into 6-1 favorites to win the World Series.

The Chicago White Sox are in a position where they can take some of the headlines for themselves, while improving the team. Signing one of the top available outfielders would be a step in the right direction. All the White Sox have to do is put a team together that could contend for a playoff spot. This is a team that is not accustomed to rebuilding. The trades for Todd Frazier and Brett Lawrie show that. Now if the White Sox can sign that one big name.
