Daniel Murphy has found a new home with the Washington Nationals.

The Washington Nationals have done some last-minute holiday shopping. With some big bats still on the board available in free agency, the Nationals decided to pick up a key piece in infielder Daniel Murphy.

Murphy was the talk of the playoffs last year, after a monster playoffs in the National League propelled the New York Mets back to the World Series.

Well since the Mets aren’t landing any big free agents or going after their own players that helped boost them to the World Series offensively, Murphy has found a new home.

According to ESPN’s Jim Bowden, Murphy has agreed to a three-year deal with the Washington Nationals.

While Murphy’s regular season numbers didn’t jump off the chart last year, it was his play in the postseason that really attracted him to many suitors.

He showed that he can provide plenty of power for an infield bat, and by going to the Nationals, he adds yet another bat to a lineup that has serious potential to be one of the best offenses in baseball.

Everyone will be watching to see if he can match his postseason production in the regular season next year, but with Bryce Harper and other good hitters in the lineup with him, he should see some good pitches at the plate to hit next season.

Last year, the Mets stole the division away from the Nationals. Now, the Nationals are stealing a key bat away from the Mets.
