Cowboys star Dez Bryant missed his second straight day of practice Thursday.

Dez Bryant has been battling foot and ankle injuries all week, and after missing a second day of practice, his playing status is clouded heading into Sunday’s NFL matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

The Dallas Cowboys were officially eliminated from postseason contention after last week’s narrow loss to the New York Jets. They had been keeping Tony Romo off the injured reserve list in the hopes of a miracle playoff push in the wide-open and lackluster NFC East, but with nothing left to play for, Dallas officially ended Romo’s season and handed the quarterback reins over to Kellen Moore for the remainder of the year. Romo re-injured his collarbone Thanksgiving Day after missing time earlier in the season with the same injury.

Bryant has also dealt with injuries this year, missing five games after breaking a bone in his foot Week 1 against the Giants. He was effective upon his return to action with Romo under center, but struggled with Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel playing quarterback.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones denied reports last week that the team intended to shut Bryant down the last two games of the season, and head coach Jason Garrett also claimed that the wideout would play against the Bills “if he’s healthy.”

It’s beginning to look more and more like “if” is the operative word here.
