Buffalo Bills 7-Round 2016 NFL Mock Draft
By Chase Ruttig
Round 5: Jerrell Adams, South Carolina TE
After focusing on defense for much of the draft, the later rounds provide the Bills chance and a need to take some chances on skill position talent even if they are deeper in the offensive skill positions than most parts of their current roster. Tight end being a spot in which the Bills could use a prospect with some upside.
Jerrell Adams out of South Carolina appears to be a player with enough upside to warrant the Bills taking a chance on him to be a backup behind Charles Clay as the Gamecocks TE managed to make enough plays in his senior season despite mediocre QB play and plenty of distractions in the wake of Steve Spurrier’s sudden retirement from coaching.
Throughout the mess in South Carolina, Marks finished with 421 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Middling numbers, but impressive numbers considering just how bad the situation was at the program this season as the Gamecocks imploded even as Adams remained productive.
In the fifth round, you need to take chances on talent, and Adams looks to be a player with some level of upside as a 6’6″ tight end who could be a target in the end zone if used correctly. That alone is worth a shot on the final day of the draft.
Other Options: Gabe Marks, WR. David Morgan II, TE.
