Round 4: Deon Bush, FS (Miami)

The Dolphins unquestionably have to continue to address needs on the defensive side of the ball as the draft wears into the mid rounds and that should undoubtedly include another look at addressing the secondary, this time on the back-end. If he’s still there, that would undoubtedly include selecting Miami Hurricanes safety Deon Bush in the fourth round and keeping him in town.

Bush has all of the physical tools that an NFL team would want from someone on the back-end of their secondary. He has fantastic size and length for the position to go along with great range in his coverage and closing speed that’s near unparalleled at the position in this draft class. Moreover, Bush packs a mean punch when he bears down on offensive players, capable of delivering hits uncommon for someone at his position.

There are drawbacks with the safety, largely in terms of him being a bit over-aggressive at times and that leading to penalties. As he takes his talents to the NFL, he’ll have to improve his discipline as a member of the secondary and become less reckless in his playing style. Even still, the potential is there for the Dolphins to grab a game-changer with great value in the fourth round.
