Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban can’t see himself coaching anywhere else but in Tuscaloosa.
No matter how much success the Alabama Crimson Tide have on the field, it always seems like head coach Nick Saban is the subject of coaching rumors. There’s always been rumors of whether or not he would jump to the NFL, but with a job like Alabama and the contract he has, it always seems impossible to leave.
Part of that is his own doing, as he has had several jobs in college and in the pros throughout his career. He even once said that he wouldn’t become the head coach of Alabama, while he was the coach of the Miami Dolphins.
For any Crimson Tide fans that might be worried that they might eventually lose their head coach, Saban is trying to ease those concerns, by saying that he really can’t envision himself coaching anywhere else.
Saban told Chris Low of ESPN.com, that he doesn’t see himself leaving Alabama happening.
"“No, I really don’t. I don’t see it ever happening, and I know every year somebody has me going somewhere else,” Saban told ESPN.com in a wide-ranging interview. “I think a lot of it isn’t just about the coaching part. What people don’t understand is they forget you’re a person. They forget you have a wife and two kids and a grandbaby, and they all live in Birmingham.“They all work here. My wife goes to Birmingham five times a week. My mom lives in Birmingham now after moving from Myrtle Beach. It’s not just the job. A lot of people don’t get that. My life is here.”"
It’s clear that Saban loves the Alabama program and Tuscaloosa. The guy has job security for life with the program, thanks to the multiple championships that he has won and how well set up the program is for the future.
Although he’s said things in the past about not leaving other places and then proceeded to leave those places, it’s hard to see him leaving Alabama. He has a big contract, and if somewhere else offered him more, he could just as easily get that same contract from Alabama.
He’s got a perennial championship contender in the Crimson Tide, and he could very well be bringing home another championship this season. There’s not many better spots to be in than the one Saban has right now at the helm of the Crimson Tide and he knows that.
At this point, it doesn’t seem like Saban will ever leave the program and nor should he.
