Cleveland Cavaliers vs Portland Trail Blazers

With a chance to take down the best team in the league on Christmas Day and on the road, the Cleveland Cavaliers came up just short of the Golden State Warriors, 89-83. The Cavs have been the best team in the Eastern Conference this season and Friday’s game against the Warriors could very well be the NBA Finals preview.

LeBron James is putting together yet another MVP-type season. He’s averaging a team-high 26.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. Kevin Love is second on the team with 17.5 points along with 10.6 rebounds per game, but expect the leading scorers to change soon as Kyrie Irving is finally back from injury and played in his third game of the season on Friday.

Losing Nicolas Batum and LaMarcus Aldridge, among others, has been a crushing blow for Damian Lillard, a young point guard who is looking to prove his elite status by contending for a NBA title. His numbers speak for themselves, however, as he is averaging 24.6 points and 6.8 assists per game.

C.J. McCollum has also stepped up, joining Lillard as the other 20-point scorer per game this season, but it’s going to be up to the rest of the team to really step up and lead the Trail Blazers out of 13th place in the Western Conference with a lowly 11-20.
