7. 2011 Denver Broncos (8-8)
The words Tim Tebow should come to mind at the mention of the 2011 Denver Broncos and that should be just about everything that you need to know. Tebow took over the starting job from Kyle Orton early in the season and started 11 regular season games before starting both of the Broncos’ games in the postseason. That’s right; never forget that Tim Tebow won a playoff game.
Even with that, this Broncos team was just totally fraudulent in virtually every sense. Their offense with Tebow and Willis McGahee was far below average on a consistent basis and their defense wasn’t particularly great either. The 2011 Broncos were on the right end of what seemed like countless lucky breaks that ultimately resulted in their good fortunes.
Those fortunate breaks even extended into the postseason for Tebow to pick up his victory. While Tebow gets some credit for the game-winning 80-yard pass in overtime, it’d be wise to remember that Demaryius Thomas had to run for miles after the catch and the Pittsburgh Steelers had to make missing tackles an art for it to happen. They showed their true colors in the next round when the New England Patriots absolutely trounced them to the tune of 45-10.
