New York Giants vs. Minnesota Vikings

The New York Giants are going to be without arguably their biggest weapon in Odell Beckham Jr. on Sunday Night Football in Week 16 as he serves a one-game suspension. That certainly will stack the odds against the G-Men as they travel to TCF Bank Stadium for a big NFC clash with the Minnesota Vikings.

Beckham’s injury unquestionably puts a ton of pressure on Eli Manning in the offense for Sunday night, but also necessitates players like Rueben Randle and Rashad Jennings to step up in a major way in Week 16 if the Giants are going to have any kind of success. The Vikings have their fair share of injuries to deal with, but a banged up Adrian Peterson and Anthony Barr playing alongside Teddy Bridgewater and Harrison Smith is far better than not having them out there.

Keys to Victory

With the Giants coming into this game not having Beckham at their disposal in the offense, the key for New York is undoubtedly for some of their normal secondary weapons on that side of the ball to step up to the occasion. Rueben Randle, Dwayne Harris, Hakeem Nicks, Rashad Jennings, and so on are all talented NFL players, but they’ll have to step up to deliver a peak performance on Sunday Night Football if they’re going to make up for OBJ’s absence.

For the Vikings, the key is going to be to make sure their offense doesn’t lay a dud. This team has been good overall for the entire season, but their offense has sometimes relied a little too heavily on their defense to get the job done. Even without Beckham, which gives the Minnesota offense a major advantage, the Vikings have to make sure to not fall asleep on offense.

Prediction

The Vikings should pretty clearly walk out of this primetime game in Week 16 victorious over a Giants team that’s not that good to begin with and will be without one of their biggest assets. However, this is the exact type of game that New York has traditionally come out of nowhere with to make a statement, even if it really doesn’t mean anything. Give me the G-Men.

Final Score: New York Giants: 24, Minnesota Vikings: 23
