Lane Kiffin decided to bring up Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott when talking about Michigan State.
We’re now a mere few days away from the College Football Playoff, and in the prime time slot on Thursday night we’re going to get a match up between the Michigan State Spartans and Alabama Crimson Tide. Of course, as they’ve done throughout the year, you’d expect Alabama to use a heavy dose of Heisman-winning running back Derrick Henry, and Lane Kiffin made sure he let it be known that they will.
The thing was, it was how he explained it during a recent session with the media that was the absolute best.
While talking to the reporters in the room, and with Henry sitting right next to him, the Tide offensive coordinator noted that they will indeed pound the rock with Henry against the Spartans, and hopefully more than Ohio State did in their meeting this season with the Big Ten champs.
See, this is why Lane Kiffin should be allowed to talk all the time. If there is one coach that Nick Saban should not shield from the media, it’s without a doubt his offensive coordinator.
Of course, Ohio State lost one game this year and it was to Michigan State. In the loss, there were a lot of people upset with how minimally Elliott was used in that one, and that included Elliott who took a few digs at his own coaching staff at the end of the game.
Still, the moral of the story here is: Please never change, Kiffin.
