In overtime, Matthew Slater wins the toss and elects to kick, with the New York Jets then scoring the walk off touchdown.

The ever professional, win-at-all-costs New England Patriots have now found a new way to lose.

By screwing up the coin toss.

After taking a knee with 23 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, Bill Belichick would have been hoping to win the toss and elect to receiver. Special teams captain Matthew Slater was the man for the job, and indeed he succeeded with the first half of the said task. Calling heads, Slater won the toss for the Patriots.

Unfortunately for Belichick, his star special teamer was not quite on top form as he went to chose to kick rather than receive. With the rules of overtime dictating that a touchdown at any time wins the game, electing to kick is something not seen very often at all. Unfortunately for Slater, his mouth spoke before he could think, and the Jets gleefully accepted his idiocy.

New York then recieved the ball, unexpectedly one might add, on their own 20 yard line. Four plays later, Ryan Fitzpatrick has led his side up to the New England six-yard line needing a touchdown to tie up the victory. After finding Brandon Marshall twice in the end zone earlier in the game, Fitzpatrick decided to turn to his other beast of a wide receiver in Eric Dekker, and wrap up the win for the Jets. With the Pittsburgh Steelers losing, the Jets now have their postseason destiny in their hands, all thanks to Matthew Slater. Just do your job Michael!!
