The Phoenix Suns are prepared to fire head coach Jeff Hornacek after a 5-15 start to the season.

If you’ve paid attention to the NBA at all this season, you’re likely aware of how abysmal the Phoenix Suns have been despite the fact they have the tools to succeed. It’s been a slow burn for the Suns, but their 5-15 record through Christmas is just the surface of the problems going on out west.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Suns are prepared to fire head coach Jeff Hornacek if things do not get better and start to turn around.

That’s not a report act Hornacek has been fired or that the pieces have been set in motion to make it happen. But the ice has become so increasingly thin in Phoenix for Hornacek and it’s looking like he won’t make it to the halfway point of this current season.

So far there has only been one head coach fired in the NBA this season in Kevin McHale, but Hornacek has been dealing with internal issues that have made the Suns a joke so far this year. There was the draw with the Morris twins which resulted in Marcus Morris being traded to Detroit in the offseason and Markfieff throwing a towel at his head coach the other night.

That’s a telltale sign that the locker room is lost, or at least dangerously close to being at that point, and it might be time to change things at the top for the Suns. Hornacek still has a job, for now, but we’ll see how long it lasts.
