Sean Payton looking for potential landing spots
New Orleans Saints’ head coach Sean Payton could be looking for potential landing spots.
It has been another disappointing season for the New Orleans Saints. After trading away their best weapon in Jimmy Graham in the summer to the Seattle Seahawks for center Max Unger and a first-round pick, many doubted how the season would play out for Sean Payton and his Saints.
Well, it hasn’t gone to plan. With troubles on both sides of the ball, the Saints have floundered in the shadow of Cam Newton and his undefeated Carolina Panthers, and will not make the postseason for the second straight year.
Such issues on the field, with the aging Drew Brees and the worst defense in the league, have led to major rumors about the future of Sean Payton. Payton has been at the New Orleans’ helm for 10 years now, and has seen major success, winning the Super Bowl in 2009.
However, such success has been missing from the organization in recent years, and Payton has such come under great scrutiny.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Payton is now searching out landing spots if he is to be fired from the Saints’ role. One potential place could be the San Diego Chargers, with Mike McCoy starring down another sacking. The Chargers have been utterly terrible this season but there is a talented roster to work with.
All is uncertain as of now, but Payton is far from secure in his current role and there will be teams after his signature is he comes available.
