Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce has just scored a 13 yard touchdown reception on a beautifully ran post route.
The Kansas City Chiefs are rolling. On an eight game running streak, pursuing the AFC West title with a game deficit to the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs are the hottest side in the NFL not based in Carolina right now and so far on Sunday, they are proving their talent. Travis Kelce has been a major aspect of the much improved Chiefs’ offense, and has stepped up again to record his fifth touchdown on the season.
The Chiefs’ defense have dominated Johnny Manziel and his Cleveland Browns, and after forcing a three and out late in the opening the half, they provided Alex Smith with good field position with just under two minutes remaining. Smith made an outstanding play to evade the sack and then rush up field for a neat 29 yard gain. He then found his tight end Kelce on a crucial third down conversion to set up the Chiefs’ offense on the 13 yard line.
The very next play saw Kelce run up the seam, plant his outside leg and cut on an outstandingly ran inside post route. Smith threw the ball right on the money, low and to Kelce’s left who simply gathered the ball and rolled into the endzone. It was a lovely end to a lovely drive for Kansas City, and sets the team up with a 17-3 lead at the half. The Chiefs will be hoping to close out the victory to move to 10-5 and keep the pressure on the Broncos.
