Brandon McManus shanks game-winning FG attempt (Video)
By Ian O'Brien
Brandon McManus badly shanked a field goal that would have won the game in regulation.
Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus blew an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot for the Broncos, as he missed a 45-yard field goal. He kicked it wide left, and the field goal attempt was not even close. This gave the Cincinnati Bengals a second life as the two teams are now headed to overtime. Here is a video of McManus’ miss that may cost the Broncos a win.
McManus has been mostly accurate for the Broncos this season, but he will surely draw the wrath of Broncos fans if they lose. The Broncos would have clinched a playoff berth and essentially the AFC West title. Their last game will be against the last-place San Diego Chargers. However, the Bengals still have a chance to clinch a first-round bye since a win would give them exactly that. The Broncos still have a chance to clinch the No. 2 seed if they can escape with a win over the Bengals.
This game had every bit of hype going in, and it has lived up to every expectation with the AFC playoff seedings at stake more than ever.
Although the Bengals have already clinched the AFC North title and a playoff spot, they will undoubtedly look to capitalize on McManus’ miss if they can get a stop against the Broncos.
