Peyton Manning expands on HGH comments
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was not happy as he expanded on his comments about the allegation of HGH usage.
Every since an Al Jazeera report implicated Denver Broncos quarterback with HGH usage, Manning has been adamantly denying the report and is not happy at all.
The quarterback issued a strong, emotional press release after the allegations, and it’s likely that he could sue for libel claims that have potentially defamed his character and caused him emotional distress.
After Manning’s initial denial of the claim, he continued to expand on his comments against his supposed HGH usage in this week’s MMQB with Peter King.
Manning was so upset with the allegations and the way that the story had rapidly spread, that he spent practice on Sunday, throwing footballs as hard as he could with his receivers.
"“Yeah, I’m upset,” a rehabbing Manning said after a spirited throwing session with receivers. “I’m pissed off. I was throwing so hard this morning I think I broke some fingers out there.”"
Manning continued to deny the report about him, as his emotion was clear in his comments about the story.
"“I can promise you this is a total fabrication,” he said over the phone, his voice rising and sometimes shaking. “I simply do not understand how somebody makes up something like this and it becomes a story. And then the guy admits he made it up and it’s still a story. How exactly does that work?”"
Manning of course alluding to the fact that Charlie Sly, who was an intern at the Guyer Institute and was the one who had alleged that Manning used PED’s, recanted about the situation and yet the story of Manning reportedly using PED’s is still a story.
However, despite the recantation from Sly, Al Jazeera is standing by the story and the claims against Manning, which has angered the Broncos’ quarterback even further.
While Manning did rehab at the Guyer Institute where Sly was an employee, he says he did everything in his rehab by the books and that nothing was illegally done.
"“Every treatment I did, I did with the knowledge and cooperation of the Colts. Never did I do anything outside the rules. Damn straight I’d never do anything outside the rules. I know how hard I’ve worked to play in this league for 18 years. For this jerk [Sly] to insinuate I cut any corners, I cheated, I took shortcuts, is outrageous. Damn outrageous.“I’m getting emotional now. But I know what I did. And I did nothing illegal.”"
While Sly has recanted, Al Jazeera is still standing by their story. That makes this still a big issue, but Manning is steadfast in his comments and it’s pretty telling. Manning isn’t happy at all with the report, nor should he be.
