Oakland Raiders fullback Marcel Reece has been suspended for four games.

The Oakland Raiders took a big step forward as a team in 2015. Every game they played in was competitive and the level of talent on the team had greatly improved. One of those consistent players on the team, as he has been for them for a while, was fullback Marcel Reece.

Now it looks like the Raiders will be without their Pro Bowl fullback for the last game of the season and the first three games of next season. According to Field Yates, sources have told him that Reece has been suspended for four games by the NFL.

Yates does not say what the four-game suspension is on account of, so it wouldn’t be fair to speculate on what it would be for. Reece has consistently been one of the top special teams players in the league and his effort and energy are always a big boost to the Raiders. He could also do a variety of things on offense, which made him even more valuable to the team.

The Raiders aren’t playing for anything in their final game of the season, but not having Reece on the field will be a big blow in a tough road game. The timing of the suspension is even worse, as it comes at the end of the year, which means he will miss time early for the Raiders next season.

Getting off to a big start is important in any NFL season. Not having Reece is something that the Raiders will have to deal with to begin the 2016 NFL season.
