Now that we know The Rock will be in attendance, will he be wrestling a match at WrestleMania 32?
We haven’t even hit the Royal Rumble yet, which doesn’t take place until the end of January, but we already have some huge news in regards to WrestleMania 32 in Dallas coming up on April 3. In a tweet that simply rocked the professional wrestling world, it was announced that The Rock would indeed be in attendance for what is expected to be the largest event in WWE history.

Again, with over 100,000 people expected to be in attendance for this one, this is going to be the largest event in WWE history. Having one of the greatest of all time in AT&T Stadium will just make things that much larger. With his movie schedule reportedly getting in the way, this was not something that was expected to happen, which makes that announcement all the more stunning.
Now, though, everyone’s attention turns to one thing and one thing only: Will The Rock wrestle a match at WrestleMania, his first since he lost the WWE title to John Cena in 2013 at WrestleMania 29?
Well, that’s where things can get a little bit tricky.
During that loss to Cena, while everything went off without a hitch in the few matches he had prior to that particular one, the “Great One” was pretty banged up in the bout, causing it to suffer. While the WrestleMania 28 match between Cena and Rock wasn’t all that bad, the WrestleMania 29 main event between the two was actually quite awful, and this is something that everyone contributes to The Rock being injured. The multi-time WWE Champion suffered a hernia and torn abdominal muscle in the match, which is a cause for concern.
He did make an appearance at WrestleMania 31 earlier this year with Ronda Rousey in that segment with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, which led some to believe that a mixed match could be in the cards for this year. But, in addition to talk of Rousey not being able to appear, it was still pointed out that Rock suffered some pretty significant injuries last time he was in the ring.
While we love seeing The Rock around, the fact of the matter is that he is over 40, and the more you put him in the ring, the more you worry about potential injury. Dwayne Johnson is quite frankly the biggest action movie star on the planet at the moment, and while maybe even he would love to get into the ring once again, if he were to suffer a serious injury in there then that could deter any movie plans he might have in 2016. He loves you all, WWE fans, don’t worry about that. But, with where he is right now in his career, you can’t blame the man for loving the Hollywood money even more.
So, chances are, we probably won’t see The Rock have a full-fledged match at the event in April. Now, that’s not to say that we won’t see him get physical with someone during segment; maybe dropping a Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow on someone. But as for something bell-to-bell — yeah, that’s probably not in the cards.
Still, this is WWE and we’ve seen stranger things happen before. Kevin Owens vs The Rock, anyone? (YES, PLEASE!)
