Colts sign quarterback Josh Freeman
With all of their quarterbacks injured, the Indianapolis Colts have signed Josh Freeman.
The Indianapolis Colts need a miracle to make the playoffs and it’s highly likely that their season is going to end with them missing the playoffs and possibly undergoing a regime change.
One of the reasons the Colts missed the playoffs in 2015 was a lacerated kidney suffered by Andrew Luck. Not having Luck put the Colts in a big enough hole that veteran backup Matt Hasselbeck did a tremendous job almost pulling them out of it.
Then Hasselbeck got injured and his backup Charlie Whitehurst got hurt, which meant the Colts were down to either Stephen Morris or a free-agent option. So the Colts have decided to go with the free agent option and the team announced that they have signed free-agent quarterback Josh Freeman.
Freeman has spent time bouncing around the league after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His time didn’t pan out with the Minnesota Vikings or Miami Dolphins, which led to Freeman just waiting around for someone to call him.
Well that someone was the Colts, because their quarterback situation is so bad that they need any arm they can get for the final game of the season.
The strong-armed Freeman has always had a hard time with his accuracy and having not seen any game snaps in a while, it could be hard for him to develop a rhythm if he does play on Sunday.
However, when it’s Week 17 and a team needs a quarterback, the options are gonna be more slim than the shelves at a store right now.
