The Eagles have fired Chip Kelly as their head coach for a disappointing 2015 season, but plenty of eager candidates await their pursuit.
The Philadelphia Eagles have made an unexpected move by firing Chip Kelly as their head coach. After falling to 6-9 and being eliminated from the playoffs, the Eagles have decided that there is no use leading Kelly on by letting him coach their final game.
Kelly’s attention-grabbing moves as the acting general manager greatly backfired on the Eagles. This included trading running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso and signing DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews. The Eagles also let wide receiver Jeremy Maclin walk in free agency and subsequently sign with the Kansas City Chiefs. The experiment with Sam Bradford as their starting quarterback has also not worked out as planned even with former starter Nick Foles struggling with the St. Louis Rams.
After three seasons with the former Oregon head coach leading the way, the Eagles are once again left searching for a new head coach. Fortunately, there are plenty of qualified candidates out there who will certainly be an upgrade over Kelly.
Here are five candidates that the Eagles should strongly consider hiring if they want to return to the playoffs.
