It is easy to overlook some of the really good seasons being had in the National Football League by some of the less-heralded quarterbacks. Sure, we all know about Tom Brady and Carson Palmer, but what about the guys who are flying under the radar?

While Alex Smith and Russell Wilson are not going to throw for 5,000 yards, they are both headed to the playoffs with formidable teams. Look for both to make a major difference down the stretch and well into January, something Wilson has already done twice in his young career.

Then there is Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick is a grizzled veteran and was discarded for a seventh-round pick in the offseason, only to come of age and lead the New York Jets to the brink of the playoffs. With one more touchdown pass this year, Fitzpatrick will have thrown for 30 touchdowns, setting a new career-high and franchise record for a single season.
