Russell Westbrook says he’s chilling on technicals

Russell Westbrook claims that his frequent technical fouls are behind him, but it will take more than words to convince Kevin Durant.

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is widely considered to be one of the best players in the NBA, and it is hard to argue with this sort of assessment even when he is overshadowed by small forward Kevin Durant.

However, Westbrook has been known to get his team in trouble with mental errors at the worst possible times. This includes technical fouls, which the Thunder point guard committed plenty of in the 2014-15 season. Westbrook has insisted that he will not continue these ways.

"“I watched film. I watched all my techs and all the dumb s–t I was doing, so I decided to tell myself, there’s no need to argue. They’re not changing it, so move on,” Westbrook said, according to Bleacher Report."

Unfortunately for Westbrook, his teammate and fellow All-Star does not buy the claim that he is done getting into it with officials.

"“Not at all, not at all. We’ll see. Hopefully he doesn’t get any more [technicals], but I don’t buy that,” Durant said."

After a season that consisted of Durant missing extended time with injury and the Thunder missing the playoffs despite an MVP-worthy season from Westbrook, they are back to being favorites to win the NBA title. The Thunder currently hold the third seed in the Western Conference, and Westbrook continues to play like an elite point guard.

He averages 25.5 points, 9.4 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game. This marks a career high in assists for Westbrook, who has been known to be selfish with the ball at times.
