Texas Tech Red Raiders vs No. 22 LSU Tigers
The Texas Tech Raiders haven’t exactly had the most successful season, but there is young talent on the roster could be enough to contend in the Big 12 for years to come. Patrick Mahomes is just the latest in the line of solid quarterbacks to come out of Lubbock — including Baker Mayfield who was a Heisman candidate for Oklahoma.
LSU has one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country, but even the electric Leonard Fournette couldn’t help the Tigers evade a disappointing 2015 season as they finished 9-3. For a while, many thought LSU was the best team in college football, but after a couple of tough losses and a Les Miles job scare, the Tigers came back down to earth.

Keys to Victory
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Stopping Leonard Fournette must be key No. 1 for the Red Raiders. Although they aren’t exactly known for their defense, the Red Raiders can’t let him run wild all day long like he has on other teams this season, putting up video game-like numbers.
Patrick Mahomes will need to have a solid game as well through the air for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders’ offense will need to prove that it can play with the big boys.
LSU Tigers
In the same breath as North Carolina needing to stop Fournette, the Tigers need to feed their star running back as the Red Raiders have one of the worst rushing defenses in the country, allowing over 270 yards per game on the ground.
Fournette needs to get the ball about 30-40 times in the game, which would probably give him about 250 or 300 yards. If he touches the ball and takes over offensively while LSU plays stellar defense like normal, the Tigers should win easily.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: LSU -7
Moneyline: LSU -270, Texas Tech +235
O/U: 73.5
Predictions
I hate to say this will be an easy win, probably because it won’t, but the Tigers should win this one no problem only because Texas Tech’s run defense is pitiful. Leonard Fournette will provide LSU with all the offense it will need, tearing apart the Red Raiders. Patrick Mahomes will have a solid game, though, despite playing from behind throughout.
Final Score: Texas Tech 20, LSU 35
