On Tuesday night, players around the NBA decided that they would help close out the last week of NBA basketball in 2015 with a host of tip dunks. Michael Carter-Williams, John Henson and Jeff Green all did their part with some fun dunks and on Wednesday night, Marcus Smart decided to add his entry to the group.

Now that is just impressive. First of all, Smart is a point guard, and while he is big for the position, point guards don’t often dunk in general, let alone throw down the putback dunks like this. Second, he did it over a big man in Julius Randle who stands at 6’9” and 245 pounds. Whether or not Randle knew Smart was coming, jumping over him to hammer down a dunk is not easy.

Finally, the fact that smart was able to bounce back after that landing and stand up is maybe the most impressive part of the entire dunk. That landing looked ugly and surely didn’t feel good. Considering the Celtics were down double-digits to the Lakers before Smart dunked that, it would have been easy for Smart to stay down and leave the game out of both pain and embarrassment. But Smart is tougher than that, and stayed in after the bump to round out the impressive effort.
