51.
Sam Bradford. Austin Davis. Sean Hill. Nick Foles. Case Keenum. All of these names have at least one thing in common: they’ve started games for the St. Louis Rams at quarterback. The other thing is they haven’t done much with it. Try as they might, despite what appears to be a solid roster of young talent, the Rams haven’t been able to lock down the position that matters most.

Foles and Keenum have split time this year, with each having a little success intermixed with long stretches of struggling. St. Louis has one of the worst passing attacks in football and until that is corrected they won’t be able to challenge in the NFC West against teams like Seattle and Arizona. So the logic is simple: find a quarterback who can.

That is why they trade up. Jared Goff of Cal was considered a top 5-worthy prospect early this college season but has fallen off largely due to circumstances out of his control, namely playing with limited talent around him. The 6’4 kid has size, an NFL-caliber arm, pinpoint accuracy (when he’s not being harassed) and poise from the pocket to deliver it down the field. There are some mechanical issues to work through, but his pro ceiling is sky high.
. QB. Cal. Jared Goff. 9. player
