TCU stacked the box and Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington made them pay, as he blew by defenders for a 37-yard touchdown.
The Oregon Ducks got on the board first against the TCU Horned Frogs in the Alamo Bowl.
It was also a learning moment for TCU, as they stacked the box with nine men and got burned for their efforts. The lesson being, if TCU is going to stack nine in the box, they better get to the quarterback or risk getting burned deep by Darren Carrington.
They didn’t get to quarterback Vernon Adams and he put the ball right where it needed to be for Carrington, as he hauled in a 37-yard touchdown.
This is one equation we always know the answer to: Adams + Carrington = TD

With just two guys to pick up coverage on defense for TCU, it was the easiest throw and catch that Oregon could possibly have. They’re a completely different unit when Adams is healthy and able to get the ball to one of his talented receivers.
It was a great job by Carrington to be right where Adams wanted to be and the result was a touchdown and an Oregon lead on the Horned Frogs early.
It’s safe to say that TCU will think before stacking nine in the box on Oregon again.
