High Salary G

  • Braden Holtby – Washington Capitals ($10,800): You can’t go wrong with starting the consensus Vezina Trophy favorite on your fantasy hockey team, even with his high salary. He leads the NHL in wins, GAA, and save percentage (among those with at least 19 appearances). He’s going against a Blue Jackets team that is 18th in the league in goals scored (98). Look for him to have a huge game tonight. He averages 5.9 fantasy hockey points per game.
  • Thomas Greiss – New York Islanders ($9,100): Greiss has done an unbelievable job replacing Jaroslav Halak (on the IR) for the Islanders this season. He has an extremely impressive 93.6 percent save percentage and has one of the lowest GAAs in the league. He’s going against a Penguins team that, even after an impressive performance, is still struggling to score goals. Go with Greiss while he has the hot hand. He averages 5.8 fantasy hockey points per game.
  • Jonathan Quick – Los Angeles Kings ($9,200): Quick is facing a very favorable matchup tonight against a Flyers team that has struggled to score goals all season long. The Kings have allowed the second-fewest goals in the league (82) while the Flyers have scored the second-least amount of goals in the league (78). He averages 5.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

Also consider: Roberto Luongo (Florida Panthers)

High Value G

  • Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets ($6,400): Hellebuyck has finally seen an increase in his salary after an impressive start to his NHL career. He’s still a terrific value. He goes against the San Jose Sharks tonight (15th in goals scored with 100). The Sharks are playing at home and shockingly, they’ve been sub-par there (5-10-0). Hellebuyck is a good be to do well tonight. He averages 5.1 fantasy hockey points per game.

DAILY PICK: Connor Hellebuyck has served me well this season. I’d go with him. Spending less on goalies means spending more at every other position.
