High Salary LW

  • Taylor Hall – Edmonton Oilers ($9,400): If you’re going to splurge on somebody today (and you should), I advise splurging at left wing. It’s where the best talent is. Hall faces a very favorable matchup tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes have allowed 118 goals this season. Hall only has three goals in his last 10 outings. However, he has 40 shots on goal during that time as well. He should break out tonight. He averages 4.6 fantasy hockey points per game.
  • Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals ($10,100): Alex Ovechkin is heating up and has been his usual dominant self over the past seven games. He has seven goals during that time and is currently riding a three-game goal streak. He plays tonight against a Blue Jackets team that has allowed the most goals in the NHL (123). Sounds like a perfect storm, doesn’t it? He averages 5.3 fantasy hockey points per game.
  • Johnny Gaudreau – Calgary Flames ($9,200): Gaudreau has bypassed the sophomore slump and has built on his impressive rookie season with 39 points in 37 games. He has 13 points and eight goals in his last ten games. He’s playing against the Avalanche, who he has given fits during his short career. He averages four fantasy hockey points per game.

Also consider: Filip Forsberg (Nashville Predators)

High Value LW

  • Jonathan Huberdeau – Florida Panthers ($6,200): Huberdeau has 25 points in 37 games this season. 10 of those points have come in his last ten games. He has four multi-point games in his last 10 games. He keeps racking up assists with 21 so far this season. He faces the Rangers, who have been struggling defensively this season. He should have a great night. He averages 2.8 fantasy hockey points per game.

DAILY PICK: Go with Ovechkin and Huberdeau.
