Florida Panthers give Gerard Gallant multi-year extension
The Florida Panthers have announced that they have given head coach Gerard Gallant a multi-year extension.
The Florida Panthers have had a lot of success over the past two seasons. General Manager Dale Tallon and head coach Gerard Gallant deserve a lot of credit for that. The Panthers have drafted well and have quietly built an impressive young core of players. The Panthers have noticed. Just days after extending Tallon’s contract, the Panthers have announced that they have extended Gerard Gallant for multiple years. The exact length of the extension has not been released.
“I’m thrilled to be signing an extension with the Panthers,” Gallant said, via the Panthers official website. “I want to thank our owner Vinnie Viola and his partner Doug Cifu for the confidence they have placed in me and their continued support. We’ve started to build a strong foundation with a great staff and group of players here in Florida. We want to continue to build on the recent success we’ve had and create a winning team for years to come.”
The Florida Panthers are currently fighting for first place in the Atlantic Division. They currently have a 21-12-4 record and are in second place in the division.
Gallant is trying to guide the Panthers to their first playoff berth since 2002, when they lost in the first round in seven games. Florida made it to the Stanley Cup Final in 1996, only to be swept out in four games by the Colorado Avalanche.
