Next: All-Star Game Captains Announced

The NHL has announced its 2016 All-Star game captains. Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr, being the fan favorite that he is, was chosen by the fans to captain the Atlantic Division. In a surprise move, Arizona Coyotes forward John Scott was named the Pacific Division captain. Earlier in the season, Jagr joked that he was afraid that playing three-on-three hockey at the All-Star game would kill him.

Jagr’s skill set is tailor made for three-on-three hockey. He never stated why he thought that three-on-three hockey would kill him until today. Jaromir Jagr revealed the reason why he was thought three-on-three would be the death of him.

If there is an active player who has a larger cult following than Jagr, it’s Scott. How else can you explain that a guy with one assist in 11 games this season and with five career goals got voted into the All-Star game? Jagr has stated that he wants to play hockey until he dies. Fighting John Scott sounds like a pretty glorious way to die to me.

It should be quite interesting to see Scott play at the All-Star game to stay the least. Don’t be surprised if he playfully fights someone. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was Jaromir Jagr after that tweet.
