After being down three scores, the Penn State Nittany Lions made a great comeback attempt against the Georgia Bulldogs.
For three quarters on Saturday, the Taxslayer Bowl between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Georgia Bulldogs looked like a bore, as the Bulldogs physically manhandled Penn State. When Penn State lost Christian Hackenberg, it looked like the game was done.
That’s when down 24-3 in the fourth, Penn State decided to make the game interesting, as they put together one of the best comeback attempts in team history. The Nittany Lions were lethargic all day on offense and suddenly began firing on all cylinders.
The Nittany Lions got on the board early in the fourth, when Trace McSorley completed a 17-yard pass to Geno Lewis, to pull the Nittany Lions within a couple scores, 24-10.
Then in the middle of the fourth, the most exciting play of the game would occur, when McSorley threw a strike in the end zone to DaeSean Hamilton, who came down with the incredible catch.

Suddenly, it looked the Nittany Lions were on the verge of creating a Georgia collapse. They would get the ball with 1:42 left on the clock. Even more incredibly, they were faced with a fourth down situation on multiple occasions and converted each time.
With Penn State fining their way into Georgia territory, it looked like they were going to have a shot at tying the game. However, a desperation heave into the end zone would be incomplete as time expired, and Georgia escaped the Taxslayer Bowl with a win in hand.
For a game that wasn’t all that fun to watch for three quarters, it quickly became one of the best bowl games this season thanks to a thrilling fourth quarter comeback attempt by Penn State.
