St. Louis Rams‘ rookie running back Todd Gurley is doubtful for their Week 17 clash with the San Francisco 49ers.

The rookie sensation who has taken the NFL by storm may well have to wait to get back on the field. Todd Gurley has been utterly fantastic all season long, however, it is looking as though the St. Louis Rams will have to do without their star running back to close out a rather disappointing season, after he was listed as doubtful for the Week 17 matchup.

Gurley has been without a doubt the highlight of St. Louis’ season. Jeff Fisher and his Rams have underwhelmed the nation, with some tipping them to make a run for a postseason berth. However, they have not performed to the anticipated level, with the quarterback position being a particular problem.

While Nick Foles and Caese Keenum have limped through the season, Gurley has been flying, carrying the offense on his own shoulders. After missing the first three weeks of the year due to rehab from a torn ACL. Gurley went on to rush for 1,106 yards at an average of over 4.8 yards per carry. He is behind only Doug Martin and Adrian Peterson, Gurley has set his stall as one of the great running backs in the NFL in the coming years.

However, it is looking more and more unlikely that fans will get to see the next great star of the NFL to close out the season. Gurley has missed practice all week with a foot injury suffered last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks and is now subsequently listed as doubtful.
