Wayne Rooney scored the game-winner for Manchester United against Swansea City.
Anthony Martial broke Manchester United’s goalless drought with a beautiful header in the 48th minute. However, just 22 minutes later, Gylfi Sigurdsson, tied it up for Sweansea City at Old Trafford to make it 1-1.
With the Red Devils going all of December without a victory in any competition, Louis van Gaal’s side knew they needed all three points in order to calm both the fans and the media. The team have been under a lot of pressure recently, and were desperate to shut off the critics by getting a victory.
Like so many times in the past, Wayne Rooney, would be the hero for Manchester United, finding the back of the net in the 77th minute to give his side a 2-1 lead. The aforementioned Martial added an assist to his goal on Saturday, by providing Rooney with a fantastic ball that he managed to get on the end of.
The Englishman seems to enjoy playing against Swansea, as he also scored the last time they visited Old Trafford as well.

Rooney’s goal on Saturday gave the Red Devils a crucial three points, and put them right back into the thick of the race for a spot in the UEFA Champions League. They currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table with 33 points from 20 games. The victory was Manchester United’s first in all competitions since back on Nov. 21, when they beat Watford 2-1.
