49ers, Jim Tomsula part ways
By Phil Naegely
The San Francisco 49ers have parted ways with head coach Jim Tomsula.
The 2015 season hasn’t gone well for the San Francisco 49ers and how head coach Jim Tomsula planned for it to end. After only one season as head coach, Tomsula and the team have parted ways as they look to turn around the team in 2016.
After Jim Harbaugh left the 49ers for Michigan, the team couldn’t recover. One of the main reasons was because of Colin Kaepernick’s inability to shine in the beginning of the season and he was placed on season-ending injury reserve after electing to have a surgery on an injury that perhaps could have waited until the offseason.
It’s been a rough season for the 49ers and finding a coach that can suit to Kaepernick’s personality and strengths like Harbaugh did is key. If they don’t, the already torn relationship between the quarterback and the front office could head even more south. This would result in the team restarting at the quarterback position and setting back the team even more.
Overall, Tomsula isn’t the best option as head coach, but the 49ers would be wise to retain him as the defensive line coach, which he served as from 2007-14.
