The Steelers survived a scare in Cleveland on their way to the postseason.

53. Final. 12. 55. 28

Just when you think the Steelers are down and out, they find a way to make things interesting right at the wire. Their playoff hopes rested completely with what the Jets did in Buffalo in Week 17, but Pittsburgh needed to take care of business against the Browns in order to have any shot at the postseason.

In true Pittsburgh fashion, they looked like they might lose to the Browns but need up not only winning but earning a playoff berth in the process. The Jets got walloped by the Bills on Sunday in Buffalo — in perfect Rex Ryan middle finger fashion — and the Steelers win means they’re in despite the fact they almost lost their way out.

Pittsburgh lost DeAngelo Williams though, which means their trip to the postseason might end up being short-lived — but for the time being they’re in.

Three stars

Antonio Brown: 13rec, 187yds, 1TD

Gary Barnidge: 6rec, 49yds

Ben Roethlishberger: 24/36, 349yds, 3TD, 2INT

Odds

The Browns were not at all favored in this game, and the Steelers very much covered.

Next Week

Cleveland wil be headed to the same place they’ve been heading for all but one of the last twenty seasons — to the offseason and a total retooling of the coaching staff and roster.
