DeMarco Murray sprints for a 54-yard touchdown (Video)

DeMarco Murray takes a 54-yard run to the house on the New York Giants early in the first quarter of their NFC East rivalry game in Week 17.

It turns out that DeMarco Murray can still pull off All-Pro runs as he went into the New York Giants‘ end zone completely untouched on a 54-yard touchdown run. Murray looks re-energized after former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was fired on Tuesday, immediately torching the Giants defense in the first quarter of their Week 17 rivalry game.

On a simple handoff from quarterback Sam Bradford, Murray run right up the middle and accelerated past the second and third levels of the Giants’ defense. Should he continue to run with that type of conviction, it would make sense for interim head coach Pat Shurmur to continue to pound the rock with Murray against an uninspired Giants team.

It had certainly a frustrating year for Murray in Philadelphia, as he was brought in to replace popular Eagle tailback LeSean McCoy, now with the Buffalo Bills. Murray played for the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys for his entire career before coming to Philadelphia in free agency last spring.

The former All-Pro running back is ready to give Eagles everything he has in an audition of sorts for his new head coach. With a stellar run like that 54-yarder against the Giants, it will go a long way in helping whoever Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie hires to replace Kelly think about using Murray as a feature back in 2016. Look for Murray to play a great game in the 2015 regular season finale for the Eagles in the final three quarters.
