Johnny Manziel reportedly wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys after he used up the Cleveland Browns’ patience.

It’s be a wild weekend in regards to a particular former Heisman winner. After reportedly partying it up and having a good time in Las Vegas earlier this weekend, Manziel didn’t answer calls from the Cleveland Browns organization. Also according to Peter King he apparently wants to next play in the NFL next with the Dallas Cowboys.

Manziel reportedly didn’t report to the team medic on Sunday at 9am and didn’t pick up when called by the Browns. This incident is the latest episode from Manziel that shows his lack of leadership and maturity while on the Browns. He claimed to want to be a different person than his Texas A&M days, but Browns fans have yet to see much of that yet.

While his days are rightfully numbered with the Browns after both their general manager and head coach were fired on Sunday, Manziel has a contingency plan in mind: play for the Cowboys.

Earlier this year, the Cowboys themselves came under scrutiny in the handling of Greg Hardy as he faced domestic violence charges when pictures of his alleged abuse came out, as well as when he flipped out at Dez Bryant on the sidelines. Jerry Jones called the latter leadership and has since stood his ground.

Manziel’s immaturity may be called something else by Jones, but veteran players on the team should give the young NFL players a wake-up call if he ends up signing with the team. Tony Romo is the clear starter going forward as long as he remains healthy, but Manziel could be a decent option to have in case of emergency. Yet, he needs to make sure that his off the field antics and issues don’t prevent him from being the best person and NFL player he can be.

It appears the Browns have lost patience with Manziel and the Cowboys could easily realize the liability he is if the quarterback doesn’t straighten up off the field. There’s a chance Manziel could be Romo’s successor should his focus remain on improving as a player and not partying on his off days.
