The San Diego Chargers are indeed starting the process of relocating to San Diego

Bringing the NFL back to Los Angeles has been on the minds of the league over the last few years and relatively publicly as well. Throughout this entire season, there were a handful of teams that were being discussed as potential candidates to pick up and move to L.A. It now appears that the San Diego Chargers are the one that will try to relocate to Los Angeles.

On Monday evening, the Chargers filed the paperwork to begin the relocation process to Los Angeles as the team also released a statement as part of the announcement:

The Chargers site the lack of support for a new stadium in San Diego, saying that there is no solution. Though it doesn’t mention it, it also doesn’t hurt the owners’ decision to file for relocation that the Chargers have had historically bad home crowds in recent years and that the team isn’t in the best of positions in terms of wins and losses right now.

Nothing is set in stone as of right now as the league will have to meet and discuss the Chargers’ filing for relocation, but it’s hard to imagine that this won’t be a done deal soon enough. A move for some franchise to Los Angeles has clearly been the desire of the NFL for some time and the Chargers are now biting on that bait.
