Colin Cowherd stated that Mike Tomlin needs to win a playoff game.

Mike Tomlin is one of the most aggressive, forward-thinking coaches in the NFL. With the Pittsburgh Steelers he has seen continued success, including a Super Bowl victory in 2008. However, this doesn’t seem to have resonated with Colin Cowherd of The Herd. Rather than praise Tomlin for his continued success, although his Super Bowl victory was now seven years ago, Cowherd has chosen to criticize his performance.

This criticism comes in the wake of the firing of Tom Coughlin. Coughlin was the head coach of the New York Giants for the last 12 years, and has won two Super Bowls, in 2007 and 2011. For some in the media, he has been hanging on to his job in New York due to these Super Bowl victories without success in recent seasons. Cowherd illustrates the firing of Coughlin should also put pressure on Tomlin, who he sees as keeping his role due to past glory.

The Giants have now had three consecutive losing seasons, and perhaps the time was right to move on from Coughlin. Tomlin and the Steelers, meanwhile, have made the play offs once again this season, and although the Bengals beat them to the AFC North title, the Steelers will fancy their chances against the Bengals next weekend.

With the big Wild Card game upcoming, Cowherd suggests that Tomlin must not lose this game, or otherwise face being on the hot seat for next year.
