Florida Panthers to have new uniforms
Next fall, the Florida Panthers are expected to wear new jerseys.
There are many new things going on with the Florida Panthers organization both on and off the ice.
They are currently sitting at the top of the Atlantic Division, as of Jan. 4. At the end of last season, they had 91 points with a record of 38-29-15. This season, after 39 games, they had a record of 23-12-4 totaling 50 points and are currently enjoying a nine-game winning streak.
The success that the team is currently enjoying has moved them to implement a new slogan for the franchise. The catch-phrase is “new year, new me”.
In addition, this past Sunday George Richards of the Miami Herald tweeted that there will be new sweaters for next year’s campaign for the Florida hockey club. Here they are, per SportsNet.
Word has leaked out that the new look uniforms will be similar to that of the Montreal Canadiens with the words “Florida” and or “Panthers” on the jersey, depending on whether they are at home at the BB&T Center in Sunrise or playing a road game.
There have been frequent discussions of the franchise possibly relocating to Quebec City, Canada. There have been constant rumors about the city of Quebec City welcoming hockey back after losing the Nordiques, prior to the 1995-96 campaign. The Nordiques moved to Denver, Colorado and are now known as the Colorado Avalanche.
The Panthers have recently rewarded General Manager Dale Tallon and head coach Gerard Gallant with new contracts. New Years Day, 2016 was a great day for both men. After building a successful team in Chicago with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups since the 2009-10 season, fans in Florida are probably hoping Tallon can do the same down in Sunrise. Gallant was anointed as the team’s head coach in June, 2014 replacing Peter Horachek.
The Panthers have had successful seasons from aging veterans Jaromir Jagr, who will be attending the NHL All-Star Game in Nashville later this month, and goaltender Roberto Luongo. From aging veterans to youthful prospects, there is a lot to be excited about within the Florida Panthers organization.
