Colorado Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla scored his 600th goal, becoming just the 19th NHL player to reach the 600 goal milestone.

Colorado Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla has been known as one of the NHL’s most impressive goal scorers since he entered the league in 1996. He has scored at least 29 goals in each of his past 13 full seasons and at least 28 goals in his past 14 full seasons. On Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings, Jarome Iginla became just the nineteenth player in NHL history to score 600 career goals.

“Honestly, when I was 19 or 20 years old I was just trying to make the NHL. I was never thinking I could score 600 goals,” said Iginla, via the Denver Post. “But I got some breaks and became more confident, and you just try to sustain that confidence. I’ve always been in good situations, got to play with great passers and took lots of shots, and got to play on the power play. I feel very fortunate.”

Iginla has played for four teams during his NHL career. He spent his first 15 seasons with the Calgary Flames before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2013 trade deadline. He has also played for the Boston Bruins and has played for the Colorado Avalanche for the past two seasons.

Iginla is one of the most underrated goal scorers of all-time. Jaromir Jagr and Iginla are the only two players with at least 600 career goals who began their careers after the 1980’s. In fact, Iginla ranks sixth all-time in adjusted goals. There isn’t too much more that Iginla can accomplish in his career except for winning a Stanley Cup.
