The Dallas Cowboys won’t be in the business for a new coach during the offseason.

Jason Garrett’s job is safe with the Dallas Cowboys, at least until the beginning of the 2016 season. Jerry Jones told ESPN on Monday that there is no plan to get rid of Garrett as the head coach.

“Let me be real clear: There’s no thought of replacing Jason. At all,” owner Jerry Jones told ESPN.com. “I only say that to get ahead of anything that might be said about me addressing coaching. Jason is the ultimate decision-maker regarding the staff. And so that remains for us to sit down and really evaluate the staff.”

It was a less than stellar year for the Cowboys after Tony Romo missed a chunk of the season with an injury. Despite the NFC East being less than stellar as a whole, the Cowboys couldn’t find away to overcome key injuries and finished in the last place of the division with a 4-12 record.

Overall, it’s wise for Jones and the other powers to be to give Garrett another year in town. With a high first-round pick, the Cowboys should be able to fill some holes on their team. Likewise, if Johnny Manziel gets his way, then he will be playing back-up to Romo in 2016.

Yet, Garrett kept the Cowboys together as they went through the rough patches. There’s not a lot that can be done in the middle of the year to replace players like Romo and Dez Bryant who both missed extended time with injuries. Garrett will have to make some adjustments before the 2016 season, but Dallas made the right decision keeping Garrett despite a disappointing season.
