3. Short hiring process

If the Eagles can secure the services of Payton, then the process to hire their next head coach will be very short. This will be a good thing and put them ahead of those still searching for a coach. With a short transitional period between coaches, Payton will have the cream of the crop in selecting his assistants and preparing their 2016 NFL Draft plan.

A short hiring process is also a good thing for the players too. They won’t have to read media reports that could change often and state who their next boss could be. At the same time, Payton and other decision making bodies will be able to tell the players what their role will be in 2016 and quickly cut those who won’t be on the team either.

All in all, hiring a coach sooner than later is just better for everyone. Payton can do his job more effectively and communicate in a timely fashion who, what, and where the team should be focusing on in the draft from a coach’s perspective. Likewise, by hiring a head coach sooner rather than later, the search for who will ultimately be in charge of player personnel decisions can be made in a more timely fashion.
