Philadelphia Eagles: 5 reasons Sean Payton should be hired
By Phil Naegely
1. Super Bowl winning pedigree
In order to understand what it takes to win a Super Bowl, an individual must have experience playing or coaching in one. For Sean Payton, he lead the the Saints to becoming Super Bowl XLIV Champions. He’s been there and done that and is hungry to get back there.
He hasn’t been back to the Super Bowl since 2009 and that will motivate him as he joins a new team. The Eagles only have one Super Bowl appearance in the 2000’s despite appearing in four straight NFC Divisional games.
Payton’s Super Bowl winning pedigree also separates him from anyone else on the market. If the Eagles are serious in waiting to reach the Super Bowl, then they should hire a coach who has made a Super Bowl and also won. Payton appeared in one Super Bowl and came away victorious.
If he can come away with one in Philadelphia, the Eagles title will hold equal meaning for a perennially disappointed fan base as it did for a city that was still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Philadelphia could use a successful team in town, and Payton is the best man available to bring a championship trophy back to tow.
